Ask Poopreport: Organic Apple Cider Vinegar And Acidic Blood

"Lydia" sent in this email:

For the past couple of weeks my bowel movements have been gray. I told a friend and she told me to buy some unfiltered, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar and drink a few tablespoons a day. I did this, and crazy enough, my bowel movements because brown again.

After reading about unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, it seems [to me] that the vinegar encouraged my gall bladder or liver to make bile, and that I had been suffering from acidic blood. Do you know about acidic blood and what other things cause gray poop?

Never heard of acidic blood before. Anyway, seems like vinegar would make it worse. Vinegar is an acid, after all.

It sounds to me more like you might have had gallstones preventing your gallbladder from releasing enough bile. The main thing that causes gray/white poop is absence of bile, so it's fairly common that if you have liver or gallbladder problems, you will have light gray or whitish poop. I'm guessing the Apple Cider Vinegar acidified the contents of your stomach enough to stimulate your liver to secrete more bile in order to neutralize it. Have you seen a doctor about this?
