PooperScooper sent in an interesting story about a tiny camera that may replace colonoscopies and endoscopies. Today, if a doctor wants to see what your colon looks like, he jams a long string of fiber optics up your butt or down your throat. I've not had the pleasure myself, but I've been told it's not a very enjoyable procedure.
This camera, on the other hand, is the size and shape of a vitamin. You swallow it. It clicks and flashes its way down, through and out of your body, amassaing 50,000 pictures of your insides along the way. The pictures are transmitted through radio waves or something, and a computer assembles them.
The article notes that the camera is a one-time-use pill. So at least you don't have to worry about recovering it when it comes out.
