I just got a call from a reporter who was writing a story about Troy Musil (you know, the
Pennsylvania Pants Pooper who we've been trying so hard
to save). Turns out he's in jail --
for burglary!

I haven't talked to Troy in about a week and a half, maybe two weeks. Last I heard, he had taken a job at McDonalds and was going to try to pay his $5000 fine month by month. (We've raised over $500 for him.) According to this article, his fine was reduced to $2500 + community service. Well, he didn't show up for his community service, and he didn't pay the fine. So they put out a warrant for his arrest... but he was already in jail for stealing stuff from peoples' garages and cars.
Dang, Troy. Dang.
There are a lot of unanswered questions. Did he steal because he needed money for the fines? Why didn't he pay the fine with the money we raised for him? Will he be returning the money so many of us graciously gave?
Either Troy was driven to desperation by the weight of his fate... or he's just a bad kid. I don't know. I'm going to try to find out which.
