An Orlando police officer used his Taser gun TWICE on a man who, at the time, was handcuffed and tied to a hospital bed.
What prompted this shocking behavior? The man, Antonio Wheeler, had been taken into custody on suspicion of drug use, but refused either to
pee into a cup or to allow the insertion of a catheter. Zap.
Were the 50,000 volts from the Taser gun a form of punishment? Maybe not. The Officer in Charge, Peter Linnenkamp, was likely aware of the recent court case in West Palm Beach of a former National Hockey League player, Bob Probert. Mr. Probert testified that when officers used a Taser gun to subdue him, the jolt made him
piss and shit his pants. Following that humiliation, Mr. Probert "wanted to fight all of us at the same time," according to one of the officers.
Back to the Linnenkamp case. We're guessing his lawyers will argue that he administered the shocks as an alternative way of getting a urine sample. If this is the defense, we hope the judge calls the lawyers and Officer Linnenkamp into chambers and... zap, zap.
