Lost Ring Found In Sewer 14 Years Later

Posted 10.02.2002 by Dakota
A silver sapphire ring lost 14 years ago in Florida has been found in a Vienna sewer. Cape Coral High student Dawn Hazlett who lost the ring said she was stunned when she heard it had been found, since she had never been out of the US. She could not explain how the ring had ended up 6,000 miles away from Florida in the Austrian capital. The ring was found by sewer worker Thomas Oelsboeck who said he "saw something shimmering in the dark." After seeing the words "Dawn" and "Cape Coral High" etched inside, he contacted the school who were able to trace the owner. Is this story for real or is it a late April fool's joke?

This is a true story. I now have the ring in my possession. Fortunately, it was cleaned and wrapped in tissue and shipped in a rubbermaid container.
