I know Him! I met him and his wife a few years ago. WOW, I didnt know THIS had happened. But I do know some things that went on just before she died! The courts dont have all the facts!!!!!!

If you want to read more about this case which is now at the supreme court level do a search for Doug Plude or if you prefer not to even type his name type in Genell+Plude. Unfortunately Doug is able for parole in 20 years. They are trying to get a new trial as a result of one of the key witnesses inflatting his resume, which wasn't realized until the key witness was testifing at a different trial on COURT TV.

My wife and I watched Forensic Files on Court TV. My wife has poked a bunch of holes in the prosecutions case - if everything is as it was presented in the show then:

1) The prosecution's assertion that an intibation tube was used is far fetched - given that the position of a body on a soft surface (presuming she was in the bed as presented by the show) would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to place in the trachea and not into the lungs. An autopsy should have been able to confirm if this was done because there would have been damage, particularily to the vocal chords. This was not presented as evidence.

2) The 911 call was not consistent with other 911 calls reviewed in which the spouse was the perpetrator.

3) It is possible to drown via the nose. If enough water is breathed in through the nose, a person can drown.

4) Her mental state was clearly not stable at the time - marriage shakey, sexual orientation in question, financial stress, living with mother-in-law, loss of a friend (possibly guilt involved). This must be taken into account. Her parents are certainly in denial and looking for a scapegoat. Also it appeared from what we saw in the trash can that she was in her menstrual cycle. She exhibited typical behavior of someone who has already planned a suicide.

5) The contusion on the neck could have come from falling onto the rim of toilet from being disoriented under the influence of the barbituate. Palms down to brace the fall. This is speculative but no worse than the prosecution.

6) The prosecution asserts that there should have been more of a mess. This is purely speculation.

7) The detective in the interview looked away while saying there were no major medical issues, which indicative of lying. What issues are not being brought up?

8) Their sexual lifestyle is certainly not what one could consider normal in a small town reference. The evidence presented showed Doug liked what he liked and Genell liked what she liked and they tolerated each other's behavior. Alternate lifestyle couples usually have agreements, so if she was going to meet up with another woman, I doubt Doug would be concerned about her leaving.

9) Doug's palm print on the sink doesn't mean much. That could easily be that he was leaning over to rouse her and used the sink to balance. And if he was drowning her, was he so strong he only used one hand? RED FLAG!

10) The IM messages indicated another separation previously. Her IM indicated she felt guilt and did not want to lose Doug. The IM reveal and what the parents were saying are not consistent.

We have many more holes in the prosecution's case. We have doubts about Doug's guilt. It's a tragic event but it does seem Doug was railroaded in this small town. I hope he can get a fair trial.

I echo what Shirley said in her posting from 7/10/08. Gen and I were too best friends. I see a few postings of people who knew Gen and Doug. I hope those people come to this site again and see the postings from Shirley Detective Dobbs and myself and contact Detective Dobbs. Mr. Plude was convicted once for this crime at that time he got life in Prison with the chance of parole. I a hoping that with this new trial he will get life in prison with NO parole.
