Sewage floods basement; homeowner pays

Posted 07.29.2003 by Big Sphincter
If you haven't heard of Public Act 222 read on, it could cost you a ton of money. It's a law that allows cities and their insurance companies to avoid paying homeowners for damages from clogged sewer pipes. Target 8 Investigators first pointed this out a year ago. And, now it's happened again, and we can tell you the law has not changed.

A clogged sewer pipe sent three inches of raw sewage into her basement. It wasn't her fault. But, Roosevelt Park's insurance carrier won't pay the bill. Now, a 73 year old woman is out more than $8,000.
