Sarawak has declared war on dirty and smelly public toilets. A committee, headed by state Environment and Public Health Minister Datuk William Mawan Ikom, has been formed for the purpose.

The committee, with members drawn from among hotels, food outlets, local authorities and academic and environmental bodies, would meet early next month to draw up guidelines on the proper maintenance of public toilets.

Announcing this, Mawan said the condition of public toilets in the state, generally, was “messy with wet floors.”
