Toilet news from land, air, and space

Posted 07.13.2007 by Gasputin
The last few days have seen a flurry of stunning developments in the ever-evolving world of toiletry.

First, while the summer Olympic games in Beijing may still be a year away, the synchronized shitting has already gotten underway in Chongqing, China -- where a four-story, 32,000 square-foot facility boasting over a thousand toilets is being heralded as the world's largest public bathroom. Representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records are working overtime to authenticate the "world's largest" claim, as well as actively investigating whether the grandstand at the 2005 Daytona 500's record for "largest concentration of belching assholes gathered in one place" has been eclipsed.

In other news from the Far East, All Nippon Airways (comically referred to as Japan's "No. 2 carrier") has announced plans to install bidets in their fleet starting next year. Officials are hoping passengers who need to clear the runway, so to speak, will find this to be the most invigorating, hands-free asshole cleansing in the airline industry.

And finally, we turn to the good ol' U.S.A., where the red, white, and blue shelled out $19 million for the brown, green, and yellow. That's the staggering sum NASA paid Russia for a thunderbox American astronauts can uncoil their gastro-knots into on the International Space Station next year. This marvel of corn rocket science features, among other things, leg restraints (to prevent the defecating astronaut from becoming a floater himself) and an American-made device that converts piss into drinkable water. Many thanks to the brewmasters at Stroh's for sharing their expertise in this matter!

How long will it take for Beijing'S porcelain palace to look like a frathouse john on a Saturday morning?

Here's hoping none of ANA's planes don't ever hit any turbulence...Soaked(with more than water...Ewww)pants,anyone?

Wasn't NASA working on a space toilet years ago? Our Space Cowboys can think of Putin as they're squeezing out zero-G grogans.

The space toilet is really cool, but 19 mils seams like a lot of money. I think I could have built the thing for less than $2,000,000.

Just saw this story on Yahoo News and there's something disturbing about the sinks...

Let's see. If they were to put the toilet on spinning collar that generated even a fraction of 1G of force, the astronaut would stay glued to the toilet and the turd would fall downward. If they were scared about the astronaut blasting off, they could always put handholds on the side of the bowl, which would probably be very good for bearing down on that rock hard turd (assuming that space rations to do astronauts what MRE's do to your average soldier).

Why do I have the sneaking feeling that President Putin and Foreign Minister Lavrov are whooping it up at the Kremlin that they're getting paid $19m for teaching those stupid Americans how to take a dump and, for their next act, they're going to get us to drink our own piss?

DungDaddy, what country are those sinks in? I noticed that they're red, white, and blue and wondered if the article said anything about making a political statement... or if I'm reading way too much into things.

I`d undercut you on the NASA contract Dung, by $1,999,000, and still make a profit. Down to the DIY store and get a small pump, a couple of lengths of hose, some hose clips, a big plastic bag and some vaseline - all for around $100. The rest I`d spend on beer.
