A brand new prison in a small Kentucky town is already in deep doo-doo, thanks to a
sewage system that is less than fully operational. It seems that a design problem in the system is causing "foul odors" to emanate into the community, assailing residents with the full-bodied aroma of human waste from the cellblocks. Even the local Methodist church is not being spared from this onslaught of un-Heavensent scent.
The alleged design problem is that of creating sewer lines that are "too big," according to a water department spokesperson. The extra space, unfilled by sewer water, traps gases and ferries them along to an unsuspecting outside world.
"{The sewer lines} were designed for the prison at full capacity, plus for additional development in the area." said Maleva Chamberlain, spokeswoman for the Kentucky Division of Water. "So what happens, because there is not enough flow, the sewage sits there and goes septic."
One would expect that if the current inmates would simply increase the size and frequency of their dumps, the problem would quickly be solved. Maybe the good citizens of the town could write to the warden, requesting that prisoners be fed a diet based on what our own PoopReporters have consumed to produce record- (and sewer-) breaking logs. That should fill those super-sized sewer pipes to the max.
