There is a drawing of a roll, with an arrow pointing to it and the words "easy start roll." Also,
there's a letter on the back, from President & CEO Nick Marcalus, thanking me for choosing his brand,
and telling me about Marcal's "fresh new look... now with added brightness and softer sheets."

"Safe for all septic systems"
"Fragrance free"
"recycles without chlorine bleaching"
"visit our website at www.marcalpaper.com."
OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION:
OK, it's white. I can't argue with them there. It's pretty rough to the touch, I feel sorry for the
poor bastards who used this brand before it became "softer!" The perforations are fine. It rolls ok,
too. No real smell. Safe for all septic systems? God let's hope so.
SUBJECTIVE REVIEW:
I'll have to start by saying that I bought this while trying to save some money at my local overpriced
D'Agostino's market. I saw the D'ag sign screaming "SALE!" and thought "hey, this is a good deal." But
when I got home, ran into my bathroom and tore into one, I looked back to the package's small print in
horror: "ONE-PLY." I knew then that I was in for 6,000 sheets of torture. I only hope that I can help
others to not make the same mistake I did.
OK, one-ply is a big myth. I've got a stack of 1,000-sheet rolls, which in reality are 500
sheet rolls, because a single-thickness sheet can't even begin to stand up to the mess that is my ass.
My wiping experience with this is consistently bad. Sure, once in a while you've got to do
some extra washing because you missed the paper here or there. But with a Marcal wiping, I'm scrubbing
moose tracks off my palm every damn time. I'm doubling, tripling, quadrupling up the sheets, and I
still tear through it like nobody's business.
As for the feeling, sometimes I have to look back to see if I mistakingly picked up a
newspaper, and I'm wiping with that. This stuff is NOT SOFT. Don't be fooled by their colorful
packaging and letter from Nick Marcalus. There's no way he wipes with this shit. If you're really in a
bind, start ripping pages out of the phone book. That'll give you a better wipe.
