My wife came up with a way to cheat this contest.
She said I could take my copy of your book that I bought online and go up to any bookstore and take a picture.

You should demand more than one copy of the book in the photo.

This was posted on my Myspace page this morning. The image is clearly taken from my website. At first I was outraged that someone would try to cheat at this contest...



... until I realized the guy was just being funny.

Do libraries count? No, alas, because my goal is to get people going into stores and asking for my book.

Will you be doing a signing tour? Any Larry King, Lou Dobbs appearances? I'll be getting my copy directly.

Crap. I'll just have to BUY my t-shirt then.

I just got back from the mall. As I was leaving the mall I remembered this contest but I didn't have my camera with me.

Do I still have time?

Sighting #2! This is Mark at the Tattered Cover in Denver, Colorado. Mark is a high school buddy of mine whom I've recently been reacquainted with thanks to the magic of Myspace; check out his brand new video podcast here.



Mark says: "Many writers have come and gone, but only Dave Praeger has pooped and gone."

This is no fair. I am now completely certain that I've been jinxed for all contests. The Poop Gods must have broken my camera. All I get when the button option is on photos and not review is a blank screen with some green lines. I get the feeling they should be brown lines.

Chris Rockwell reports sightings at the Borders in Boise, Idaho. He says the B&N was sold out. (!) But he didn't send a picture, so I've still got one more shirt to give away...

Chris also said that he moved my book from wherever they had shelved it straight to the bestsellers table, where he watched someone pick it up and buy it. I heartily encourage all PoopReporters to adopt this practice. I'll gladly bribe you with PoopReport stickers if you do so.

I'll gladly plug it on myspace and my website.

When someone like you does well, Dave-O, it restores what little faith I have in mankind. You're one of the good guys.

Damn! I want to be #3, but I just ordered the book on Amazon... If I only knew it was available in bookstores.

That's ok, though... I'm going to take a picture with the book and send it in anyway...

While trolling the archives recently, eagle-eyed Gasputin realized that sighting #3 never arrived. He writes:

"Here's my photo, taken at the Barnes & Noble in Camp Hill, PA. I had to take it in the children's section to avoid the morbidly obese clerk who reprimanded me for violating company policy by trying to take a picture inside the store (an example of 'word terrorism', I guess).

"I placed two other copies in the 'Bestselling Paperbacks' area, although I considered placing them in the 'Gifts for Dad' section."
