itchy and lumpy anus

Posted 06.14.2004 by Poonurse (1313)
Laura from the UK asks:

My anus is always itchy. Sometimes I can't stop scratching. There are a few small lumps... what could this be?

Dear Laura,

Thanks for the question!

Sounds like hemmorhoids to me. Those rascals can get quite annoying when they think you aren't paying enough attention to them.

Make sure you wash your butt with a nice mild soap when showering. Use some baby wipes after each visit to the bathroom, don't wear thongs, and keep the area dry.

If this doesn't help, go see a doctor. Don't you people have a National Health Service, or am I (as usual) badly misinformed on such issues?

Good luck.

Please be advised that I am only a Poonurse. I am NOT a medical doctor. Any advice I give should be taken moderate skepticism. Please consult a REAL medical doctor if you feel you have a serious medical condition.

It could also be a pilonidal cyst, don't you think?

Jennifer (17) -- 11.11.2004

Ive been wearing a thong but now i find that its irritating my anus and vagina what do you think i should do?

John T (not verified) -- 12.29.2004

Fur Thongs work for me. sometimes a little gel works also!

The Shit Volcano (3817) -- 10.25.2005

Haven't you ever heard of hemmeroids?!?

Anonymous Coward (not verified) -- 03.28.2006

It could also be genital warts inside the anus

Anonymous Coward (not verified) -- 11.25.2006

recently during sex, my partnet spread my butt cheeks too hard and gave me a cut on my anus. now it wont stop itching!! is it infected?

Anonymous Coward (not verified) -- 10.09.2007

my ass just started to get really itchy like 3 days ago its itchy all day and it bugs the shit out of me and 2 days a ago the inside of my ass was burning what can it be

healthy 1 (1431) -- 10.09.2007

AC, I would be willing to bet any amount of money that you have the infant stages of hemmorhoids.

Hopefully, you don't get an ass ripping shit, or you will feel the upper levels of F5 pain.

Get some Preparation H. if you have a hospital pan in your house, fill it with lukewarm water & epsom salts, put the bowlin the toilet so the rim of the pan rests on the bowl, sit downon the toilet.

Also, a vitamin called Rutin, worked wonders for me.

Lastly, if your condidtion reaches the level where you need to see a doctor, request an ointment called Analpram. This ointment got rid of my burning itch in just days.

Oh and do NOT strain on the toilet.

Use Penaten cream (find it in the baby section of your local drug store) http://www.amazon.com/Penaten-Skin-Cream/dp/B0006NYDSG.

No one has mentioned Pruritis Ani (not verified) -- 12.03.2007

A quite common condition is pruritis ani, a kind of infection around the anus...it itches and hurts like a bastard, and you can't think of anything else until you fix it! Diet can exacerbate it...beware of tomatoes and acidic juices, and try to keep the area clean and dry. Once I finally figured out what it was, I got immediate relief from a doctor...he simply painted the area with methylene blue (I think that's what it was), and it killed the infection. It came back, though, but now I control it with tea tree oil antiseptic cream, which I find at healthfood-type stores. I just put it on when it bothers me, and it saves me. Make sure you put some just inside the anus, too, if that area bothers you.

I have small white or flesh coloured lumps that stick out around my anus they are itchy, does anyone have any idea as to what they are

pebarnes (1) -- 10.06.2008

I have an appt with my doctor Wed at 3:30 but I'd like your opionion. My poop has been soft and loose for over 2 years. comes out in small pieces. over the last year I've slowly noticed when I pee, I have a dribbling sensation at the end. now three weeks ago my butt started itching real bad, I've used prep h for over 3 weeks now and it's done nothing. To top it off, my urge to pee and reduced ejaculate have me thinking I have prostatitis, could prostatitis be the reason why my butt is itchy? a bacterial infection in my prostate spread to my anus? Please help, 39 year old male, I take 2400mg of omega 3 fish oil and a multivitamin a day, I eat good

MSG (1152) -- 10.06.2008

Be sure to keep that appointment. Prostatitis is fairly common; I've had it a number of times. However, my symptoms are frequent and incomplete urination, with a little pain sometimes; up more often to pee at night. Nothing has connected with the anus at all. Certainly you should have your prostate checked, and the doc will probably check you for infections there and elsewhere, but I don't think your prostate has produced your butt itch. Don't miss your appointment.

I was diagnosed with an anal fissure over a year ago went through 3 tubes of anusol since then with no relief. I still have serious itching. Three weeks ago my 6 year old was also diagnosed with an anal fissure and is getting no relief from treatment as well. Could this be something else that the doc is missing?

Hi there, I have been having itchy + bit scaly on right butt cheek right by anus. It scratches and is not painful. colour has changed bit and lil bumps can be felt, What can I do?

Bilgepump (2776) -- 03.15.2009

Rent a sandblaster, grinding wheel...or follow Logjam's homeopathic treatment...straddle a hedgerow naked and run like hell.

_______

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.

After reading items on this site, and going to doc after doc, .... I decided to attack my 7 year old problem with a twofold approach. I bought Maximum Strength Vagicaine in the ladies Dept at Walmart (Cheap) for vaginal itch. It has 20% Benzocaine in it. I am leaving an opened tube by my bedside. If itching wakes me up, I take a small dab and apply. Seems it works up to 4 hours. I also got medicine for vaginal yeast infection...Miconazole and inserted with 1/2 the dose for 5 days so far.

Besides this, I applied once a day, Hydrocortisone 2% for ten days. This was to take care of the fissures and small hemmoroids I have. So far, I have been near symptom free for two days! I had a feel for an itch today but ignored it, and it went away. I also had to cut out decaf coffee, and I am allergic to dairy. I am being very careful to avoid dairy.

daphne (4405) -- 04.19.2009

I also recommend seeing if there's a difference for you between

hydrocortisone

and

corticosteroid.

I have found that while hydrocortisones aren't great for my elbow psoriasis, corticosteroids are wonderful.

Good luck, Lil' Dickens!!!!

I have had severe pain just inside my anus for about 5 days. I use wipes anytime I use the restroom to help keep the area clean. I have had a tear on my anus for years. The pain is awful and it hurts on the outside as well. It feels like an infection. I cleaned the area and put tea tree oil on the outside and the pain stopped within 5 minutes. It is amazing what a common source from the earth can heal. More people should research tea tree oil and it's many uses. It helps prevent and get rid of lice as well. I also gave my grandma a bottle that i bought at Walgreens for her diabetic sore that she has had atleast 5 years and it almost totally healed it. Everyone should use tea tree oil.

Caz (not verified) -- 10.22.2009

Yeah I use tea tree oil for everything including early stage stomach bugs..I never vomit. I've had many times though where i have felt queezy and rubbed tea tree on my stomach and solar plexus. It works a treat. This is for adults though.
My friend who was peri menopausal had an itchy anus for years. She did the tea tree thing and the itch went away.
Be careful only place it on the outside especially if its 100% tea tree. never put it inside you.. top or bottom. DOnt put it directly on open wounds..better to put it on
near the open wound. Tea tree kills bacteria and virus's so ive read.Rarely does anything kill viruses.
