my butt is leaky

Posted 03.25.2004 by Poonurse (1313)
Alex asks:

Anal leakage. OK, I wipe my ass VERY well -- I mean VERY well -- and without farting, or much activity, I'll go back to the bathroom a few hours later because something feels a little wrong and I wipe my ass and it looks like I didn't wipe it the last time I shat. It's not liquidy or anything, it just looks like I didnt wipe very well. I don't eat any Wow chips, I don't drink, I've never had anal sex... I don't know why this happens. Anyone else have this problem? Is sweat like getting up in my ass and kinda loosening things up or something? Thanks for the help.

Dear Alex,

If you don't eat Wow! chips, don't drink, and don't have anal, exactly what the hell do you do for fun? That's the bigger question here...

Sigh. Seriously, it is probably just mucus or something. I wouldn't worry about it. If you absolutely feel like you have to have a solution, either:

  1. Go see a doctor.
  2. Try Tampax. The string can be discreetly stuffed up your butt to hide it. No one has to know you are troubled by anal leakage.

Please be advised that I am only a Poonurse. I am NOT a medical doctor. Any advice I give should be taken moderate skepticism. Please consult a REAL medical doctor if you feel you have a serious medical condition.

Interesting my name is Alex to, and since I can't remember posting that question even though that is exactly how I am. I am going to ask a simple extra question. Anal Fistula: Does this cause stinging but after pooping, and can it be removed? Sitting down for long periods at a time then becoming active, can this to cause this issue? What about hair? I felt back there and it felt matted up so i took a good shower, and it was still like that. Could my hair be pressed so tightly that it causes this issue? Should I shave my butt hole???

Alex2 if you are matted you need a fro pick.

Ok, so I have the same problem where I poop, wipe till I'm squeaky clean, and then 20 mins later my butt itches and I have to wipe again, only to find there is loads more poop on my butt! It's really annoying, but I think I can trace the problem back to one event. I got meningitis about a year ago, and they put me on some heavy duty antibiotics in the hospital. After that, my butt has always leaked. I don't know if it was the antibiotics, or the fact that I was on bed rest for a week straight, but my butt leaks every day now. I'm going to try the fiber remedy, I hope it works. Anyway, my post is just to add another vote to the hypothesis that antibiotics could be a cause of this devastating problem. I'm glad that I'm not alone in this!

Nothing like a good hemmorhoid to
"foul" things up. How about when your putting the moves on a new girl and you get her to the point of blowing you and suddenly it dawns on you, "I'm gonna smell like butt when she gets done there" I guess thats her problem, eh?!

Have the Cure (not verified) -- 10.28.2009

I've been having the same issues as the rest of you. Leaky ass, mudbutt, swamp ass, whatever you call it, it sucks. Had it for 3 months now got so worried about it I went to the doctors. Who recommended surgery. Well I found this site and took some of its advice and it worked. within 1 week no more problems don't know why it work but it did. Quit eating all red meat and poultry. No fried foods. Eating Fruits and Veg. and eggs. Must take a fiber supplement... this seems to be the most important thing to do. Recommend Psyllium husk taste like saw dust, try adding Emergen-c you can buy both at Target or Sprouts. Like I said before got my info off this site and been leak free for 2 weeks now. As someone else put it look on the bright side you'll be eating healthy losing weight, and living a better life without problems. Its the only way I can look at it cause I miss the chicken. Oh and you can eat FISH sushi or grilled only hasn't hurt me yet. Good luck people and hope it works for you. Also saw post that said this can take 2 days to 3 weeks to see improvements so plz don't give up hope.

I have a boyfriend that i have been in a relationship with for years and i just found out that he has leakage from the anal time to time when i cleaned out his closet and saw disgusting, nasty , dirty rags of filth, I could've been a bitch and asshole and broke up with him after i saw this, but I didn't.Instead I asked him about it and he said its a problem that he had since he was little and its comes by time to time, I am wondering what should I do to help him and if there is most information that i need to know. ????????

Logjam (2805) -- 11.02.2009

hotbod -- we need more info before offering advice.
1. Have you been having sex with bf? For how many years? And during this time you never saw any evidence of leakage?
2. Are you living together? If not (and even if so), why were you cleaning out HIS closet?
3. So is this right? He cleans his leakage with rags and tosses these into a closet ... and just leaves them there? Can you explain? Is this because he leaks during the night and doesn't want to get up? But then don't his sheets get fouled?
4. Do you have a hot bod?

Anal Issues (not verified) -- 11.05.2009

Sooooo. The clear seepage continues. I was doing good there for a bit. Dr. KY gave me HYOMAX (prescription)used to treat IBS. it slows the action in the colon. It also drys everything up. It was working great for about 2 1/2 months. No real problems. Haven't had to wear a pad for a long time. Now, it's back. I'm gonna try some probiotics for a bit. Doc also told me to get back on fiber. KONSYL. I'm too fucking young for this. I just want to enjoy a beer or some wine without worrying about the consequenses. No dairy, no fruit, no coffee, never even think about anything greasy. I want my life back. I've lost about 30 pounds just because I'm too afraid to eat. How can these doctors find cures for so many things but they can't fix my anal leakage?

Mr itch (not verified) -- 11.05.2009

29 yo male, Been having same issues mostly posted here. IE have a bowel movement, 20 mins to an hour later like I haven't even whiped. Itching, and uncomfortable.

Tried creams, fiber etc and no luck.
Doesn't help I don't drink coffee at all or drink alcohol.

My water intake is low, (i have been told before). Any suggestions..this is getting really bad and I have seen several doctors, Who say it 'feels normal' scheduled for specailist but im assuming they will find nothing as per most of the other people here. Less testing the better :)

pain in the butt (not verified) -- 11.08.2009

Hello there folks I'm glad I found this site,I just had my hemmeroids removed and I'm in such pain and leaking puss where I think it's got infected. I can't poop, I cant sit or sleep; I was told to go see a doc in case this puss gets into my bloodstream any ideas how I can feel a bit better, my backside is all bruised and greeny discharge and it smells vile.

swaety bum (not verified) -- 11.09.2009

after reading this site and some experimenting i think i have figured out my problem somewhat. well, just an easy way to stop the symptoms, but not cure the problem.

my problem just seems to be sweat after dumping. i have dumped, jumped right in the shower afterwards and cleaned like nobodies business, only to have a sweaty ass 30 min later. i have cut back fried foods and tried some extra fiber, but i can only imagine more fiber contributing to the problem. my latest remedy is to clean very well after dumping, then spray on some "Sure Antiperspirant". i have never had the issue by using that method.

Call me Al (7) -- 11.11.2009

To newbies - somewhere in these posts you will probably find your answer, but be patient because trying all these remedies takes time. Two things I have to add are (1) Don't forget that MIXING two foods can cause the problem. Sadly, I can't eat cereal. I can drink milk, and I can eat whole wheat snacks like Triscuits (but not around the same time), and I have no problem. But if I eat shredded wheat cereal with milk I'm in deep shit! (2) The timing of your eating might make a difference. If I don't eat anything before about 11 am and if I don't eat anything after supper, I'm fine. I can drink any liquid I want at any time, including coffee which has never given me a problem. But if I eat something solid, either early or late, I suffer big time.

My guess is that in the morning my digestive system just isn't awake enough to work right, and if I eat after dinner (especially close to bed time) then my system doesn't digest right when I'm asleep or perhaps just lying down.

here to help you (not verified) -- 11.12.2009

Hey all, I hope this helps some of you. I've found that completely cutting Corn Syrup and High Fructuose Corn Syrup (HFCS) was the solution to me, it took about three years of dealing with this problem to figure it out. This requires reading a lot of food labels because Corn Syrup/HFCS is in A LOT of foods/drinks now. This includes: Soft drinks, processed foods, breads, yogurts, ice cream, just to name a few.

I now read all food labels before eating to be safe. Also buying organic is a safe bet, all natural usually is as well, but there is also a good chance that it WILL have HFCS. The problem has all but disappeared after this diet change! Sometimes I do get some minor sweating like in the classroom if I need to do a Power Point presentation or something of that nature, but it isn't nearly as bad as before. I'd bet that if I didn't worry so much about it in those situations I wouldn't have the problem. In any case that is just a minor nuisance at this point, it's so refreshing to be able to live without this embarrassing problem. I'd recommend giving it a shot guys/girls.

poopeasy (not verified) -- 11.15.2009

I have had alot of gas and bloating and it looks like I don't know how to wipe my butt! Started seeing tracks in my underwear! I found out I have candida.(excess of sugar) I found out I'm not drinking enough water, and don't have enough "natural" fiber in my diet. So I am starting probiotics, and 1 tbl. of raw apple cider vinegar in 10 oz of water first thing in the morning and the last thing before bed. I will report back.

Anonymous Coward (not verified) -- 11.17.2009

It is NOT about getting more more fibre. The medical term for this is "Focal hyperhidrosis of the anal fold" (excessively sweaty butt crack to the layman).

Pooh (not verified) -- 11.17.2009

Yep, me too...Seems like it has less to do with age (mine began in middle age) than other issues. I can see coffee having an effect, combined with lack of fiber. I think my problem is improved with more fiber, which is better in summer when fresh greens are in season. Good to note, though, that some fresh vegies are actually difficult to digest on an empty stomach ( ie; raw spinach, romaine, are high in cellulose), so easier on your butt and digestion if eaten in conjunction with other (cooked) food. Metamucil, adequate fluids make sense, as well as exercise, ESP.
abdominal strengthening--how much of this could be attributed to weak abdominal muscles?
I know I need to rebuild mine...
When under attack from my anus, I keep a container of Tucks premoistened towelettes next to the toilet. They contain witchhazel, a mild astringent (witchhazel can also be purchased by the bottle and used with t.p. or cotton..). This process cleanses and reduces itch.
Let's try a month of ab exercises and see if it improves the attitude of Mr. Poopieshoot...
