A website for Poop Culture

The next step on my quest to reach #2 on the New York Times bestseller list is complete. I have set up a website for my book: PoopTheBook.com [1]. There you can learn more about the content of the book, read the latest news (which is just an RSS feed of this column right now, but will include signing dates and stuff in the future), recommend the site to a friend, and -- most importantly -- sign up to receive an announcement when the book finally comes out. Please sign up, and make sure you include your physical mailing address so I can send you postcards and whatever other promotional doo-dads we end up creating.

And if you have your own site, please post a link! Google ranks sites based on the number of people that link to it, so help me out if you can.

Now for my conundrum. Every year, as you know, I post the PoopReport Holiday Gift Guide [2], featuring products from companies who have paid a modest fee for inclusion. The problem is, I think it's more trouble than its worth -- it's a ton of work, and I always get really freaked out that I'm not driving enough traffic to have made the investment worthwhile. So this year I'm not going to do it. Instead, I'm going to focus on selling PoopReport schwag [3].

But because it's the holidays, I want to introduce something new. My experience printing up the latest issue of the Journal (have you gotten yours [4] yet?) has taught me that the online print-on-demand services are real easy to use. So I'm thinking that I'll print up a collection from the vast PoopReport archives -- a book of the greatest poop reports from 2000-2002. "PoopReport's Greatest (S)Hits, Volume 1." Stories by legends like Chip Brown, G Ras, Mastercrapper, plus maybe even commentary from the older generation of PoopReporters (assuming I'm able to track them down).

I think this would make a great gift. What do you think? And can you think of anything else PoopReport-related that you would want to give to a loved one this holiday season?

Oh, and look at this: we're up to 100 photos in the PoopReport Flickr pool [5].
