I've been using (overusing) Fleet enemas after months of severe constipation -- so severe that I went weeks at a time without going. I was on Zelnorm, but they took it off market back in April.
I was so constipated that I tried everything both over the counter and prescription. And I mean everything: GoLytley, Miralax, Lactulose, Senkot, Dulcolax, Colace, Amitiza... and on and on. Finally, even my gastroenterologist turned to me and said, "What do you want from me -- to pull it out for you?"
So I got hooked on daily Fleet enemas. At first, they worked fine. Then they stopped working. So I added Dulcolax at night and then the enema. And then that stopped, too.
NOW. Now the enema gets stuck -- retained -- in my belly. I feel no urge to go even after five or ten minutes. So I'll try to expel it, and hardly anything comes out. Sometimes, two hours later, with a belly full of enema fluid, I'll cramp and some will come out.
I don't understand -- what's going on? I have a salty mouth and I'm getting weaker and weaker. Has this happened to anybody else? Or am I the Lone Ranger on this one?
P.S. In all seriousness, I'm suffering terribly.
