Poop Report: An Introspective Journey

Postby The Amazing Anus on Dec 12 2016 12:48 am

Ah, PoopReport. Arguably the first forum I ever joined and became active in, all the way back in 2004. I have been gone a long time, and before the last time I left, I was gone a long time before that, too. I didn't even remember my brief resurgence (I logged in long enough to flame my ole' nemises and bestest frienemy, C Everett Poop) and reading through my old posts, it's really just a trip. Everything about it seems dated, now. Look at my Cartman avatar. Does that still fly in (almost) 2017? I doubt it, but ten years ago, it was awesome. A lot can happen in almost 14 years, and I am just so pleased to see PR still thriving. I remember Daphne musing that a hot new band - My Chemical Romance - was going to be the next Queen. I agreed. I remember the respect I held for Doniker - I actually looked up to you my man. You kind of showed me the ropes on how to be respectable in the least respectable of places. Thank you.

So many years, man. How many of my people are still active? Come. Come and talk with me about the old times, and maybe fill me in on the new. I think I will be here to stay a while. I love you, PoopReport.

Welcome back AA. I joined in 2008 and this place was kicking ass back then, but as of now, it's a ghost ship. Don't even know who owns it anymore. I just stick around to banter with the handful of folks still checking in at times. I would love to see it come back, but we need a leader. Daphne was great, but she hasn't posted in some time now. I'm not sure what is needed or what will happen. All I know is that people poop every day, and not all of them are textbook cases, so this site should be able to survive just on that.

Let me add my welcome back to that of PD's. I have been on Poop Report for a number of years now and it has afforded me a world of entertainment. It started going downhill and losing support when Dave sold it.

The front page seems to have died already and, even though I am a moderator there, I can't even sign in. I sent a PM to erichb who I thought was the owner of PR and he said he had sold the site but would inform the new owner of my complaint. That was several weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything and still can't sign in.

The new owner seems to have no interest in the site. (?)

Wouldn't that be like buying a pizza and having no interest in eating it?

Thriving isn't the adjective I'd use, but there are still a few die hards here. Welcome back AA.

If I understand the situation correctly the new owner is making about $100 per month by doing absolutely nothing. If that is enough to make him content he has no incentive to take an interest in the site. When erichb put the site up for sale he emphasized the "no work required" aspect of ownership.

I'd vote for someone who could make that the standard for welfare.

Chief, that listing is when ericb bought the site from Chris, the short-term owner that pushed the ads, changed the format, and completely killed all the traffic on the main page.

Since I can't log in to the front page to moderate I can't check the current numbers but a short time ago there were seldom more than 100 (usually less) visitors on the page at a time. A few years ago there were hundreds there when I logged in, even in the very early morning. Quite frequently there were over 1,000 browsing at once. :-(
