What he did was terrible but I can't help but wonder why his superiors in the Army didn't recognize a few warning signs.

I was wondering about that too - I just hope that political correctness didn't sway anyone's reasoning.
A terrible incident and I'm sure people will focus on the Islamic issues; we have Muslims in our forces, some are 100% patriotic, a few have caused problems. One thing is certain, whatever course of action is taken will cause upset or harm.

With a minimum of 43 shots fired, from only two hand guns(maybe 9 shots each before reloading), I wonder what took so long to subdue him and why he wasn't killed immediately. Why even try to keep this POS alive? If it is to let him suffer than so be it. If they are trying to give him mercy, then the government deserves whatever they get. I hate to see it go down like that, but, we are to Goddamn PC. If you are a part of a terrorist group.... Fuck You, you don't get any rights in my book. Fuck off and die you scumbag piece of shit!!!

The FN 5.7 will fire 20 rounds before it must be reloaded. Soldiers don't go around armed all the time. The gunman was the only armed person until the police arrived. We have some extremely brave individuals in uniform but it would have been foolhardy for an unarmed man to charge a maniac with the capability of firing 40 rounds. He may have had only one FN 5.7, I read that his other pistol may have been a 357 revolver, that would still have given him 26 shots before reloading and if he had extra clips for the FN 5.7 the reloading could have been accomplished in a second or two.

Keeping him alive and getting inside his head may help explain his actions and help prevent future repeats of this nature. My heart goes out to the victims and their loved ones.
