Is homosexual incest normal among cats?

Postby Disco Poo on Mar 25 2003 5:49 pm

Seriously, is it? I caught my two fat male cats (who happen to be brothers) having sex a few minutes ago. On my bed   Now that the sheets are in the wash, should I be worried about this development? They are just cats, but still....Ewww!!!!!!

I was surprised by who was where if you catch my drift.

I know that dogs will hump each other to gain dominance. My family has an older male dog and he will hump the younger one when they are playing around. They aren't brothers though.

So I guess this is totally unrelated to your question.

*Sigh* I'm pretty sure there was penetration. Judging from the noises and umm....level of thrusting

Omigod.

Ask skidmark - I'm sure he has something to say on this.

Which cat was making the more noise - the penetrator or the penetratee?

I forget who from or where from I obtained this information (and why from ....) but someone once told me that all male cats are bisexual.

Don't know if it's true, don't know who could prove/disprove this and not too sure if that meant neutered or non-neutered.

One of them was making a low growling noise, but I'm not sure which one. I'm guessing the penetratee since the penetrator's mouth was full of the penetratee's neck. They were a lot quiter than other times I've heard cats going at it, maybe since neither of them are in heat.

Ouch . . . I feel bad for the cat who took it. Was his asshole bleeding? Cats' dicks have barbs just like their tongues, you know.

I used to have a family of parakeets - the parents and seven babies. After the babies grew up, they kind of all paired up with each other - the lone female with the father, the oldest male with the mother, and the remaining males with each other. It was weird, like a great big incestuous orgy. I guess the birds just didn't know the difference. I would have thought cats did, though.

I guess the cats don't remember that they're brothers? One of them is 9 and the other is 2.

I didn't notice any bleeding assholes, but again, my level of observation was not at its highest. I don't think I want to know how you know that about cats penises (peni?)

Nothing sick or disgusting . . . my mom told me when I was a kid. She had a friend who was an animal breeder and groomer and I suppose in that line of work you learn some stuff. I never actually touched a cat's dick to find out. When you're a kid you just sort of believe everything you hear.

Homosexuality is pretty normal amongst all sorts of animal species, from isolated sexual acts to pair-bonding. There's a great book about it called "Biological Exuberance." Also, not all other species have the same strict anti-incest taboos that humans do. And as you said, it's not like they necessarily even *know* they're relatives.
