Instead I will post the story of how SHIT became a word; although this being the poop report.com I imagine that this is old news. Well here it goes anyway.

Long ago when ships were traveling from Europe to what now is the USA. Ships use to carry cargo holds of manure for farming the new land. When the manure became wet from rain or heavy seas the manure would begin to break down and form methane gas. The problem with this was that the ship mates would sometimes go down to check on the cargo with a lantern and BOOM!!! No more ship; after this happened a few times they decided to put a label on the manure so this would not happen again. They labeled the manure Ship High In Transit or S.H.I.T for short!
